A friendly, medium sized breed of sheep
Gotland sheep originate from the Swedish "Gute Sheep". Gute Sheep are the most primitive breed in Sweden. Gotlands are naturally polled, fine boned sheep. Gotland sheep come in shades of gray, with a black face and legs. Known for their friendly disposition and many purposes, the Gotland is a natural fit for any homestead.

The fiber is unique in the United States. Gotland wool does not have a "crimp" like other breeds, but a true curl. Gotland wool is known for its exceptional luster, and is sought after by hand spinners and fiber artists.
The meat is very mild. One can expect that a Gotland lamb produce a hanging weight of between 45-55 pounds.
Gotland pelts are what the sheep is known for in Sweden. The silver pelt is so common, there is a Swedish tannery that only processes Gotland pelts. A Gotland lambskin is a staple in every Scandinavian home.
